trips, such as visiting the Power House Energy Museum in Zion, are also a part of this project. Trips to a local energy museum, as well as informal outings at
different times of the year so that differences in warmth throughout the seasons is noticed, will enhance the learning process. Project Description The problem to be addressed is
a lack of excitement in the science curriculum. The fact that energy is being used frivolously, something that causes the price of oil to increase, is something that Americans face
today. Fourth grade students are aware of rising gas prices and issues concerning the environment. The United States is expected to find resources other than those in the Middle East
for example. While oil drilling is possible in the United States, a better and cleaner alternative is to use the suns rays to heat homes. This may be accomplished with
the use of solar panels. The purpose of this lesson is to demonstrate that the use of the sun for energy is a real possibility. The grade level for which
this proposal is aimed is 4th grade. Age appropriate content will be for ten to eleven years old. Two classrooms consisting each of 29 students will be the recipients
of the curriculum. Solar energy is the primary focus of this project. The proposal is based on a curriculum designed for New York State classrooms, some of which received
