next level. Several technologies have arisen along the path to greater compatibility. As was the case with Windows(r) years ago, these technologies
have come to be the most widely accepted, and therefore the ones for which most new applications are written. They have followed the natural evolution that has come to
be standard in the industry. As there were very few applications compatible with Windows(r) in the early years, so too formerly was the case with these commonly used technologies.
As Windows(r) came to be more widely accepted, more applications were written to its requirements. Further evolution resulted in Windows(r) becoming the industry standard.
Vawter and Roman (2001) refer to .NET as a product of "Windows DNA," indicating the similarity between .NET and forerunner Windows products. It includes many of
