from the sociological context, it becomes possible to gain a deeper understanding of the origins and intent of that behavior. In some cases, such as in the sociological study of
violence against women, the findings of such studies can be quite useful in understanding where violent forms of antisocial behavior begin, and how they might be prevented in the future.
However, it is important to note that regardless of what topic one looks at from the sociological perspective, the particular sociological theory one uses tends to color the interpretation of
that topic. This paper will explore the sociological phenomenon of violence against women, and demonstrate its varied interpretation through the lens of two prominent historical sociologists. This paragraph helps
the student more thoroughly introduce the topic of violence against women. In todays 21st century society, nearly all values are commoditized in some fashion, or undergo exploitation for profit motive.
Distressingly, this trend has held true even for the sociological phenomenon of violence against women. At least one recent study looked at the use of sexualized violent imagery in advertisements
and came to the conclusion that the use of such images impacted "important advertising variables and appeal to specific market segments" (Capella, Hill, Rapp, & Kees, 2010). In other words,
