the nation. Families consist, for the most part, of any group that has children within it. Children, in many ways, rule the economy as parents must work and education must
be offered. The family and the propagation of the species is what society is all about. So, without families there is not society. Religion When we think of
religion, and speak of religion as a social institution, we must realize that the entire existence of our nation is based on religion. The people who founded this nation founded
it on religious ideals. As such religion is a very powerful social institution and as such is a powerful player in any social controversy or issue. For the most part
any social group has characteristics that are independent of their individual members and that these particular characteristics are what shape the behavior of those who belong to the group. This
is clearly a very real condition in the institution of religion. The primarily characteristics of religion, as a social institution, are perhaps community, a sense of continuity, and clearly that
which addresses like minded morals and ethics in social struggles. Religion and Social Change Again, if we ask how religion can affect social change we must remember that
our nation was founded on religious ideals and as such religion has always played a very large part in any social change that takes place. For example, without religious groups
