structure of society and how it functions. This theory suggests that in order to understand society, its necessary to visualize it as a "system where all the parts act together
even though each part may be doing different things" ("Theoretical Perspectives"). The parts of this system include structures such as family, educational systems and religion because social life tends to
be organized around these components ("Theoretical Perspectives"). The conflict perspective sees society as much less cohesive; instead of people working together, this model suggests that each person works to achieve
his or her goals even at the expense of others ("Theoretical Perspectives"). Karl Marx is a classical conflict theorist, since he saw society as a class struggle between the workers
and those who owned the means of production. The third perspective is that of the interactionists, who are also called "micro-sociologists" ("Theoretical Perspectives"). These scientists are interested in society on
an almost individual level; they work with people face-to-face and address "everyday activities" ("Theoretical Perspectives"). These people are interested in the way individuals interact with each other, and tend to
ignore larger structures such as national governments and economies ("Theoretical Perspectives"). The role of television in society from these perspectives: Television is a true mixed blessing. It has the capability
