our environment. The carnivalesque body is the body of interconnections that connects with the natural world. It is also an ecological body, in that a carnivalesque body is always interacting
and exchanging with the natural systems of the world. The carnivalesque body is not as restricted or cautious as the classical body. The carnivalesque body is understood to have
jovial characteristic such as shaking hands, kissing. These are interactions with other bodies that would foster the formation and growth of communities. The openings of the body in a
carnivalesque body are seen to be enjoyed as they are the ecological gateways to interactions with the environment. The bodily functions which take place through the openings of the
body such as burping, sweating, defecating are accepted and not labeled as crude or indecent. The classical body is the body type that is more cautious and more restrictive concerning
its interactions with the environment. The classical body sees interactions with the environment as being more threatening. The classical body focuses on the unpleasant and hazardous aspects of the
bodys openings interactions with the environment such as germs, viruses, infection and toxins. The classical body is a body that depicts social anxiety about exposing the body and bodily
functions and being apologetic for slips in bodily control. With the advancement of more liberal attitudes toward profanity, bodily functions, and nudity, it would appear that our current day
society is moving more toward the classical body. And conversely it can be argued that society is leading more toward the classical body as more of the bodys interactions
with the environment - such as most activities which take place in the bathroom are now primarily confined to that one room. In more affluent homes, nearly every member
