Roth who happens to be the executive director of Human Rights Watch. Arenson (2002) explains that while he tried to sign up for a course on the subject in school
each year, it would get cancelled, but that he would learn on the job. It is explained that unlike when Roth was in school, human rights is a big issue
today (Arenson, 2002). In fact, in one school, a professor remarks that there are not enough classes for the students who want to take the subject, which is the opposite
situation in respect to Roths experience (Arenson, 2002). Why is this the case? The professor believes it is because of the following reason: "He attributes the attraction to the fact
that the subject provides a systematic way for students to examine ethics in public policy" (Arenson, 2002, p.9A). The human rights field is big and the professors claim that a
university should be a place to push for human rights (Arenson, 2002). In the end, Roth claims that the students are so well versed, he feels as if he would
be inadequate in comparison if he were to apply for a job in the field today (Arenson, 2002). The article delivers information about the fact that the human rights field
has grown immensely, but what it also does that is not quite as obvious is to suggest that universities have a more political role than some would like. The fact
that universities have changed in terms of offerings, and what students demand, does suggest that there is a great political interest. This is true even though colleges went through an
