Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 8 page paper provides an overview of this issue. Educators are faced with distinct challenges when assessing performance levels of students and determining whether children should be retained or should continue on to the next grade. The basis of this dilemma is that if an educator decides to retain a student, they are not only making a statement about the student's performance, but also bringing into question their own educational process, their performance, and a view of the educational experience as a whole.
