words are vulnerable to a variety of meanings, their inherent worth was valueless with regard to the comprehensiveness of mans needs. Some were convinced that words were nothing more
than vehicles of manipulation available for use at any whim, granting suggestion and persuasion with every utterance. Insofar as rhetoric represented the very art of producing said words, their
fundamental contempt for words stemmed from the inherent nature of persuasion. However, others did not so easily abide by what was put forth as the truth with regard to rhetoric,
believing instead that words represented the gateway between collective thought and symbolic existence. After all, words are what separate humanity from the rest of the animal kingdom, and it
is with words that man is able to effectively express his innermost thoughts. To this end, thoughts and ideas are tantamount to being alive; without the ability to contemplate
and then eloquently express oneself, one might surmise that there is little else to pursue. This thinking power to which some of historys greatest thinkers frequently alluded was the
basis for myriad debates, contending that the degree of abstraction pursued by thought must be total and complete, reduced only by stringent dialectic to the individual idea. I. ANALYSIS
