and while that is the case, and one can see that there are a few rich countries and many poor, there is also a disparity among nations. That is, there
are various classes and most societies have always been class based. And while this is the case, some theorists see this as a very significant problem--like Karl Marx--and others shrug
it off as just a consequence of civilization. The problem has gained a great deal of attention in Australia of late due to some of its politics and the perception
of inequality among women there and a sense that the nation is still a bit racist. Australia in fact has more to live down than its start as a debtor
colony. In fact, changes after 1975 in respect to work has created a playing field that is more than just a bit bumpy. Some contend that there are two kinds
of widening inequality, one of which is at the global level, since many countries in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and the Middle East have witnessed their shrinking
incomes in absolute terms (Lloyd, 1996). This is something quite understandable and readily accepted. However, the second is within the states themselves, where income distribution between top and bottom has
become wider and wider (1996). The widest gaps seem to exist in the least-regulated states, as in the US, the UK, Australia and Russia to boot, where income distribution has
shifted from being extremely egalitarian to the most inegalitarian in less than the space of ten years time (1996). Although the existence of rich nations amongst the very poor is
troubling, the income gap within nations seem to cause the most trouble. At least, rich nations tend to give aid to those that are less fortunate. Within nations however, everyone
