deal of attention from the other students by virtue of being a jock. Usually the most popular people in school, football/baseball players, swimmers, track runners and other athletes enjoy
automatic acceptance without having to work at it. Non-athletic students, on the other hand, are often bookish types who have a very limited circle of friends who also have
nothing in common with the jocks. Non-athletic students tend to be more focused upon their academic standing than the athletic students, choosing instead to use their after school hours for
study instead of scrimmages. This dedication to scholastic achievement typically earns them a much better grade point average than the athlete, inasmuch as it often becomes quite difficult to
maintain good grades when every moment outside of class time is spent bettering ones athletic ability instead of ones academic aptitude. This differing academic aspect between athletic and non-athletic students
is not always the case, however. The connection between body and mind is unmistakable, particularly in relation to the positive benefits of school athletics programs. As advantageous as
physical exercise is for the body, it is as equally beneficial for the brain, as well. Even forty years ago, researchers had discovered the relationship between exercise and a
more focused student; while the definitive ruling is still out why this is so, scientists are leaning toward the theory that exercise is responsible for bettering an individuals psychomotor performance,
