the past few years as more and more places completely ban smoking. There are even some states that outlaw smoking in the car if children are present and people who
desire that smoking not be allowed in the homes of individuals if children are present. In essence, smoking is accepted less and less around the nation, even outside in open
spaces. One area of concern for people is the area of college campuses. It is argued by many that restricting smoking on campuses will benefit all concerned. It is also
argued by others that restricting the rights of students is not acceptable. Is essence, struggles on campus concerning smoking are not incredibly dissimilar to those seen in society at large.
But, it is also apparent that smoking is a problem and one that needs to be dealt with as best as possible for all concerned. With that in mind, the
following paper examines how and why banning smoking or increasing restrictions concerning smoking on campuses is beneficial in many ways. Smoking on Campus In discussing the benefits
of increasing restrictions on smoking or banning smoking it is perhaps not necessary to go into great depth about how harmful smoking is for people, both people who smoke and
people who are around the second hand smoke. Everyone is well aware of the many carcinogens possessed in cigarettes and everyone knows that it increases the risk of many health
problems such as lung cancer and heart problems. Smokers surely know this, as do non-smokers. In light of the knowledge possessed by the public on this aspect of smoking it
