There are different theories regarding the best way for this to be accomplished. One aspect of this case which is in favour of a more gentle approach may be
the way that Michael is obviously getting the level of sleep that he needs. However, there also can be the realisation that co-sleeping is not seen in the same
light as a generation ago. Today it is widely accepted that co-sleeping is undertaken n many parts of the world and can have many advantages, such as reinforcing security in
a chid where it is needed, as well as providing as additional source of affection (Okami, 2002). However where the position is placing a strain on the marriage
of the parents this needs to be dealt with. There are two choices, both of which will take a great deal of determination on the part of the parents (Carey,
2002). The first is a sudden approach. This should not mean suddenly placing the child in their own bed telling them to go to sleep and then shutting the door
ignoring sobs and cries, although it can. This can be a planned event. For example, Michael is currently four, and will like to see himself as a big boy. With
this a date may be planned and communicated to him as a special event as the day he will sleep on his own for the first time. This can
