He was most known for his applications of his theory of positive reinforcement and promoted these in his popular works (2000). 2. What factors influenced his life? B.F. Skinner was raised by his parents who is thought to have been concerned mostly with outward appearances ("B.F.," 2004). They also showed favoritism among siblings (2004). It is likely that parental attitudes and actions influenced his thinking about personality. 3. What are the major constructs of his theory? What is the source of personality? The Skinnerian brand of behaviorism is rather simple and may be categorized as behavior that is occasioned by an antecedent stimulus, and sustained or diminished by its consequences (Zemke, 2002). 4. What factors shape personality? Because Skinner was concerned with behaviorism, it is thought that his ideas about personality go to outward motivations. Behavior then seems to be shaped by the environment. 5. How do healthy and unhealthy personalities differ? For Skinner, healthy and unhealthy personalities would seem to differ due to the environment. Behavior and personality development are tied to various factors in the environment. 6. How do personalities change? From a behaviorist perspective, personalities perhaps can change through prodding.
