self-efficacy" by Jeni L. Burnette, Jeffrey M. Pollack, and Crystal L. Hoyt looks at skills theory as a means to explore whether or not the cultural view of leadership as
an innate trait is responsible for the comparatively small number of women involved in high profile leadership positions in the United States. The purpose of the study is essential to
"examine how individual differences in beliefs about the malleable versus fixed nature of leadership ability contribute to the process of overcoming negative stereotypes" (Burnette, Pollack, & Hoyt, 2010). Another modern
study on trait theory, "Applying traits theory of leadership to project management" by Dean R. Gehring, puts forth the idea that project management, as a measurement of leadership ability, might
be improved by the selection of management candidates possessing specific personality traits typically associated with superior leadership abilities. The measurement used to assess personality traits, the Meyer-Briggs Type Indicator test
is put forth by the author as a means for managers to "better understand how their personality type either supports, or opposes, the traits required for effective project leadership" (Gehring,
2007). Each of the studies begins addressing their respective topics through distilling the topic of inquiry into a single meaningful research question. For the skills theory study, the research

it possible to determine the personality type preferences towards these traits through the use of a Meyers-Briggs personality type indicator (MBTI)" (Gehring, 2007). The populations used in each of
