this phenomenon. While some find irony in such things--in Cheneys case, because he is so conservative--there is no guarantee that an offspring will hold the same political ideology, even if
a parent has political notoriety. There is a clear example of this in history, but it is not well known. Benjamin Franklin was a very popular political figure in his
day and integral to the making of America. Yet, his son was there too. William Franklin grew up to govern the New Jersey colony, but Michael Farquhar asks: " why
do so few people today know William ever existed?" (Farquhar PG). He tries to answer the question by explaining that the two were enemies which is primarily attributable to political
differences. Still, America probably should have heard of William Franklin who was also a part of the making of America. Although William Franklin has been a secret of Americas in
some way, it is true that the Arts and Entertainment network put out a film called "The American Revolution" in which William plays a significant role (Pitman PG). But while
some have begun to talk about Bens loyal son, others have ignored him. Historian Sheila Skemp is someone who not only did not skip this man when writing about history,
