in the shoes of the average Internet user if success is to be achieved. First, one must devise a strategy that easily directs even the most inexperienced of surfers to
ones site of business. Once this is achieved, a good deal of thought should be put into the design of ones home page, for it is virtually the first
impression of ones business that will be viewed and analyzed by potential new customers. It is, in effect, the reception area of the e-corporate home office. As stated, the
world of the Web is fast-paced, and the average nature of its users is one of impatience. For those reasons, ones web pages, especially ones home web page, must
be fast-loading, user-friendly, and arranged in a color and graphics combination that is pleasing to the eye and that presents an air of professionalism. Too many graphics and the
page loads so slowly that chances are the curious browser has hit the back button and moved on down e-street to the competition before ones first graphic materializes. Too
few graphics and the page may be judged uninteresting or too plain, also resulting in a browser backtrack. The primary key to website sizzle is the simple formula of
simplicity itself. This paper presents a synopsis of one such surfers journey through a total of twenty website home pages, each a different portal to the same type of business.
