There has been so many statistics that demonstrate how children from single parent households do poorly in school, how they are emotionally disturbed, how they are socially inept and how they are more likely to become pregnant, get involved with drugs, and become involved with crime. In essence, society and professionals are essentially cramming this information down peoples throats in an effort, it would seem, to save the institution of marriage. In all honesty there have been single parent households since the beginning of time and one can find just as many stories relating to children coming from good two parent households committing crimes and doing poorly as those related to single parent household children. And, reversely, one can find many good stories about individual succeeding in life who have come from a single family household. With these aspects in mind the following paper examines how, and why, single parenting is not the evil force in society that is often portrayed to be.
