approaches and should be considered in terms of what it is the reader wants or needs to discover. The student who works on this project could think of it as
comparing reading a light, modern American novel as compared to reading a piece of classic Russian literature for a graduate school class . Both processes are certainly reading, however, reading
the classic requires a different measure of focus, attention, and willingness to re-read and explicate the material. Looking at the similarities and differences that exist in the cognitive research fields
of meta-cognitive research, schema theory, and scaffolding methods requires a similar focus. Each of these areas can (and should) be pursued with some of the same methodologies as those applied
