that people should be afforded health insurance or at least be given medical intervention when necessary. The question is, should the government provide health care, or should health care be
a commodity just like anything else? In examining this issue closely, it seems as if the government must provide health care because it is the humane thing to do. At
least, that is what seems to be true on the surface. At the same time, the government is not the overseer of everything anybody does. People have certain rights,
such as the right to privacy and the right to bear arms. People have rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Yet, while people have the right to the pursuit of happiness
for example, that does not guarantee them the right to health care. If people did have the right to government paid health care, it would be considered an entitlement. An
entitlement is anything in the Congressional budget for which the government is required to pay(King 17). Health care is very expensive, not completely necessary, and simply should not be something
paid for by the government. The idea that the public has a right to health care is something that must be considered (Caulfield and Tigerstrom 157). The right to health
is something that has been considered by some major international human rights laws (Caulfield and Tigerstrom 158). Obviously, health is a human right because without good health, death is possible,
and with death, there is the absence of life. This seems rather obvious but it is an important point. What good are rights if someone is dead? In order to
protect the rights of citizens, assuring that they can live is the most important thing that any government can do. Yet, whether or not people live or live happy lives
