These children want nothing more than a home, a home with loving parents who will nurture and love them and take care of them. As these children wait, feeling unloved
and unwanted, special interest groups and politicians fight a battle over who should be allowed to adopt. During the last ten or fifteen years, the public has been exposed
to numerous controversies regarding who should be able to adopt whom. Should whites be allowed to adopt children of other colors and ethnicities? Should Christian parents be allowed to adopt
children born of Jewish parents or vice versa? Opponents say emphatically - no! The children will lose their heritage or their racial identity. They will lose their ethnic or religious
identity if they are not adopted by parents who share the same belief systems or cultural traditions as the biological parents of the infant. Should gays and lesbians be
allowed to adopt at all, either singly or as couples? Opponents scream no! The children will be raised in an unnatural environment. They will not have role models of both
