medical care may be seen as an everyday expense. The way an employee pays for any goods that are needed as essentials out of their wages. Employee will not work
unless they are paid a wage and in many states and many countries legislation exists that dictates there should be a minimum wage. The idea is that employees should be
protected from exploitation, especially those in low paid jobs who may have few options in terms of the careers they choose. The minimum wage is set so that employees are
paid fairly with the idea that they should at least be able to afford to live. If this is the is the concept than medical care must be seen as
one of these essentials. This leads us to the position where if an employer does not provide medical insurance so that an employee can obtain medical care then there is
the argument that they should be paying wages at a level sufficient to make it affordable out of the employees wage packet. Morally and ethically employers have a duty
of care to their employees, they are the source of income and as such the source of wellbeing, especially if we apply theories such as Maslows hierarchy of needs, it
is the job that provides the resources needed for physical necessities. If the approach is taken where employers have a paternal relationship with their employees ands are responsible for their
wellbeing then health insurance should be provided. It may also be argued as more cost effective for the employer to provide insurance due to the benefits of group policies where
