the water imagery found in it. Discussion Dolores Price is the protagonist of Wally Lambs amazing novel Shes Come Undone, and while she is hard to like
at times, she is always compelling, possibly because she mirrors many of the qualities we find in ourselves. We want to see her succeed because if she does, then
we can do the same. We first meet Dolores on the day a new TV is delivered to her house. Its not a coincidence that Lamb has chosen this
event with which to begin his book, for Dolores will become a "couch potato" in truth, lying in front of the set and eating junk food as a way to
deal with the terrible events in her life, until she balloons to 257 pounds. She has an awful home life: her father is a liar and philanderer; her mother
is teetering on the edge of insanity, until at last she is killed, hit by a truck; and Dolores is raped by a man she thought was her friend (Miserandino,
2005). Her life is so awful that she retreats into her weight, into madness, and eventually into an attempt at suicide (Miserandino, 2005). What makes Dolores memorable, however,
is that she overcomes all these obstacles and is finally able to start over. But despite her success in getting her life on track, she isnt truly happy-something else
