most difficult play to understand and comprehend. There are numerous characters and many different subtle nuances that are essentially left to the actors to convey. It seems that there are
many stories that take place just beneath the surface of the story and it is up to each individual to interpret what is really going on, explaining the behavior of
characters and the motivation of the characters. Interestingly enough, this is the primary topic of Al Pacinos film "Looking for Richard" in which many actors and common individuals discuss Shakespeare
while a production of Richard III takes place in a secondary position throughout the film. The following paper compares the film "Looking for Richard" with Shakespeares play from different perspectives.
Additions/Deletions Al Pacinos film is much more of a study of the play Richard III than it is a production of the play. Pacino plays Richard III in
the scenes that are present, but much of the film is comprised of his discussions with other Shakespearean actors as they all try to discover who Richard III is and
what the play is really about. As such it is all but useless to truly compare the two versions of the actual play Richard III. Al Pacinos film does
offer some different scenes, though ultimately only about one quarter of Shakespeares Richard III is actually presented in the film. As such we note that most scenes from Shakespeares play
are not included. The ones that are included, however, are perhaps scenes that often instill confusion in viewers, readers, or perhaps scenes which serve as powerfully dramatic parts of the
