are on a collision course with destiny. What makes their lives fated to end in tragedy? Perhaps it is because the love, which penetrates every aspect of their
being to the point of replacing emotion with reason has been forbidden by everything and everyone. They are couples who were not supposed to meet, let alone fall in
love, and when they did, there was a high price to pay. Ever since Eve tempted Adam with the apple in the Garden of Eden, there has been a
fascination with that which is considered taboo -- a thrill of doing something one isnt supposed to be doing. But when human beings succumb to pleasures deemed illicit, there
can be no turning back. I. Desdemona and Othello: Opposites Attract Had Venice not been at war with the Turks, it is doubtful that Desdemona Brabantio would have ever
crossed paths with General Othello, commander of the Venetian troops. Desdemona was a child of extreme privilege, having lived a sequestered life as the daughter (and only child) of
