Andronicus, is no less tragic. In contemplating Shakespearean plays, one wonders what they each have in common. What are the differences? It is easy to lump Shakespearean plays together but
it is only through careful, thoughtful analysis that one can see the stark differences as well as the similarities which tell the audience that William Shakespeare was here. The plays
Romeo and Juliet, and Titus Andronicus, will be discussed for such unique Shakespearean components as well as those which are specific to the work. One thing that should be noted
is that again, Romeo and Juliet enjoyed a great deal of popularity from the outset which persists today. Not long ago, there was a rock and roll filmed version starring
Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio. Titus Andronicus was not well received throughout the years. In fact, to this day, there are many critics of the work which was written during
the same time period as Romeo and Juliet. Not long ago Titus was made into a film, but that was part of a contemporary Shakespearean trend where many of his
works had been turned into movies. Of course, film makers take license to distort the plot, characterization and verbiage. Despite that, the Romeo and Juliet story remains classic. Attempts
to revitalize Titus Andronicus by creating a film called Titus and putting Anthony Hopkins in the lead role has not changed anything as far as the plays popularity. Romeo and
