Punctuality is critical in this position, because it is a customer service function and the telephones begin ringing at the start of the business day.
Aside from her tardiness, Shaheen has had much difficulty in learning the computer system that the company uses. She quite often interrupts coworkers for help, and some
are concerned that their own productivity suffers as a result. Diagnosis Shaheens manager has made little if any attempt to get to know
her, and s/he has no knowledge of why Shaheen finds it so difficult to get to work on time. Though it seems that
everyone is frustrated over Shaheens inability to grasp the computer system, the case makes no mention of whether she was trained to use the system. Her manager needs to
ensure that Shaheen has received sufficient training before taking any other action, and before descending any deeper into the desire to ascribe to Shaheen attribution as a poor performer (George
and Jones 130). Shaheens actual performance may not be as poor as the manager and Shaheens coworkers believe it to be. Part
of Shaheens perceived performance problem may only be a case of faulty perception on the part of the her coworkers (George and Jones 110). Prescription
