novels that speak of many forbidden realities and many passions and often destructive lusts. As such one may wonder what Annes opinions are of the sexuality she presents in the
novels, what the theme or symbolic nature of the sexuality is, or what her intentions are in offering such sexually diverse and often disturbing realities are. The following paper examines
the opinions of several individuals as it pertains to the sexuality in Rices vampire novels, and also examines what Rices own purpose or opinions may be regarding the sexual themes
in her novels. The Analysis of Others In first examining the presence of sexuality in Rices novels we look at a review of a work that addresses that
very subject. The book is titled "Anne Rice and Sexual Politics" and is written by James R. Keller. The review, written by Yupei Zhou, states that the work "provides a
lucid and coherent critical account of the progressiveness and the conservatism of Anne Rices early novels...treats the reception of Rices novels as a popular cultural phenomenon" (Zhou). In this
book we see how "Keller elaborates on how Rice carefully presents her public image as a conventional conservative and how she openly shows moral revulsion to the unconventional sexual experimentation
extensively depicted in her early novels. Keller sharply points out that both the conservative subtext and the liberal text of Rices fiction help to ensure the market value of her
works and her position as a popular writer" (Zhou). Interestingly enough, another critic illustrates the powerful presence of Rice herself in the following: "When you meet her, you wonder if
