food on occasion when she is hungry. She runs away, but she allows social workers and teachers to help her. The fact that she does not get into a life
of crime, or abuse others, is a testament to her character, but many sexually abused children are not quite as strong. Without the proper care and guidance, many sexually abused
children engage in a life of crime. It seems to be the case that sexually abused children are more likely to end up as juvenile delinquents than other categories of
troubled youth. This is because they are more likely to run away than children who have not been abused, and running away increases the arrest risk. It is not as
if there is a direct link or cause and effect relationship between child sexual abuse and juvenile delinquency. Child sexual abuse is perhaps responsible for many unwanted behaviors or patterns,
and delinquency comes in many forms. Children who are sexually abused often end up engaged in criminal behavior. They may find that they want to prostitute themselves because they become
especially interested in sex, or they simply engage in criminal activity as a way of lashing out at society. Some abused children grow up in dysfunctional families that have
many problems. There may be incest, gang affiliation and other undesirable elements that are a part of the family history. A cluster of social problems often propels children to a
life of crime, or at least to a bad start, but it may be the case that children who were secretly abused from otherwise normal families will grow up to
