the early part of the 17th century and after that the settlements seemed to establish themselves with far less animosity, or at least far less outward warring animosity. The following

today is generally considered to be a land that was colonized by the English, it is also a land that saw many attempts at colonization from other cultures and colonization
that did not just take place in the northeastern states. The French and the Spanish were the two groups of people who did not see such success in colonizing and
settling in North America in the 17th century. They were also two cultures who seemed to war with one another in many instances. The history of the Spanish colonization
and the French colonization, in relationship to the eastern portion of the nation, first involved Florida, and took place prior to the 17th century. "When the French were warring against
Spain in the mid-1500s, privately owned French ships - pirates in the eyes of the Spanish - attacked Spanish ships and ports in the Americas" and primarily rested in the
Caribbean Islands.1 The Dutch were also involved in this turmoil as well.2 Then, in 1562 the French attempted to create a settlement in Florida but failed and then they tried
again, proving successful.3 The Spanish then attempted an attack on the French and failed but they did succeed in building another fort not far from the French fort.4 A further
