on a skiing trip. My first view was of the resort and the mountain, which was large and white and smelled of fresh air, snow and diesel fuel from
the lifts. As I stood on the porch of the resort, I could feel the cold against my face and the breeze from the top of the mountain was
bitter cold. From one end of the porch, I could feel snow falling from the roof and brushing against my face. The snow was cold, but instantly turned
wet against my warm cheek. I could see the snow as it blew across one end of the porch, while the other end of the porch did not have
any snow on it. I could see the large mountain with the ski lift in front and a large trail down one side. The trees were green and smelled
of pine, and the trail was white, smooth, and speckled with skiers. The sounds of the area were distinct to the mountain. I stood for a few minutes
and listened and heard many different sounds: the squeal of an eagle overhead; the sound of the motor running the ski lift; the sound of skiers calling out to
friends; the sound of the skiers whooshing down the hill; the sound of cars moving up into the parking lot; the sound of bus tour operators bringing in their clients;
the sound of conversation. There were also a number of more subtle sounds, like the sound of the breeze over the trees and the sound of the lift chairs
