fascination is the way language works and its power and influence over all things in life. It is now known that memory functions, especially semantic memory, play an important role
in language production. This paragraph helps the student give a basic overview of different forms of memory. Semantic memory deals with ideas,
understandings, and concepts that are not based on past experiences. Semantic memory does not involve recalling a past event in order to form an understanding as it does not rely
on context (Sims & Grey, 2010). The counterpart to semantic memory is episodic memory which does depend upon past experiences. At certain times we recall these past experiences as a
guidepost for current situations or circumstances (Sims & Grey, 2010). Episodic memory allows us to remember the neighbors name while semantic memory allows us to be able to read, write,
and speak the neighbors name. Semantic memory is crucial to language production. Together semantic and episodic memories, along with declarative memory, form the overall long term memory that allows us
to perform everyday activities like driving a car or reading the newspaper (Sims & Grey, 2010). Semantic memory begins forming early in life
