his likes and dislikes (Dowshen, 2007), his general personality and how he responded to different people in their life. They also identified their own values and what they wanted their
son to be exposed to and not exposed to and the type of discipline they used with him (Dowshen, 2007). These lists led to a list of the qualities and
activities they wanted in the centers caregivers. Since the boy is three-years-old, the parents decided they wanted a center that included a preschool rather than just child care. Using
an aggregation of information they gained in their research, they decided the child care center/preschool should have children involved in playing and working with different learning materials as well as
with other children (Dowshen, 2007). The materials need to incorporate learning the alphabet as well as numbers (Dowshen, 2007). They wanted the center/preschool to offer a lot of time for
their son to explore and learn on his own as well as under guidance (Dowshen, 2007). Play and learning time needed to be both indoors and outdoors so the outside
equipment was very important to them. It needed to be safe and there needed to be a lot of it. These parents have read to their son every day since
birth so it was also important that there was at least one reading time each day where an adult read to a small group of children. Information from the
