online, may be seen as a particular area of concern as security needs to deal with the range of potential security threats for the development of a security policy. Therefore,
it is essential that the security policy and practices reflect the potential threat and the sensitivity of the information being held. The policy will need to start with the
scope of the policy, which will cover all of the employees and contracts working for or on behalf of McBride at all of the current as well as any future
offices. The policy will cover all aspects of the way data is collected, used, processed and stored with the specification that policies and standards will all be compliant with existing
legislation and accepted industry standards. To consider the way that the policy may be implemented by be considered by looking at the loan processes. The firm will start by
attracting loan applications. The implementation of the loan application process will require the setting up a secure process which will be able to encrypt data. The standard security approach for
web sites is secure sockets layer (SSL) protection. This makes sure that when data is transferred between the potential customer and McBride that third parties cannot intercept and read it.
The data is very sensitive; therefore 128 bit encryption should be used, and should be certified with a SSL certificate, such as Verisign, that can reassure visitors of the security.
