Theft is a problem to one degree or another for practically all businesses. Unfortunately, much of that problem is attributable
to employees themselves. Employee theft, in fact, is often a bigger component in the profit loss margin of a business than is theft from outsiders!
Employee theft comes in many forms. It varies from workers stealing the occasional pen or other office supplies to the theft of expensive equipment or even
proprietary information, databases, or even money. Indeed, embezzlement is one of the more high profile examples of employee theft. Consider, as an example, the recent case of Doughlas
Arntsen, a former associate of Crowell and Moring (Inside Counsel Breaking News, 2012). Arntsen stole over $10 million from Crowel and Moring clients and, just last week, was sentenced
to four to twelve years in the penitentiary (Inside Counsel Breaking News, 2012). Arntsen was finally caught not because of his companys own security measures but because one of
the clients noticed money missing from one of his accounts (Inside Counsel Breaking News, 2012). Embezzlement, of
