War on Terrorism are examined. Security Measures to Protect Corporate Assets After the events of 9/11 2001, it became extremely evident that continued terrorist attacks on the West would remain
an ongoing risk for the conceivable future. The US State Department indicates that there has been a tremendous rise in terrorist attacks. While virtually all of the terrorist attacks that
have occurred since 9/11 have involved targets outside the US, it is nevertheless imperative for American corporations, particularly since many of them have an international presence, to address security issues.
This examination of relevant literature focuses on the strategies and measures that security professionals can utilize to protect their employers and what the responsibility of protecting corporate assets entails. Providing
the correct balance of counterterrorism security measures begins with conducting terrorist risk assessment. This consists of four components: evaluation of company assets; determining the nature of possible terrorist threats; determining
the vulnerability of these assets; and evaluation of the risk that terrorist agents will be able to identify protection vulnerabilities (Halibozek, Jones and Kovacich, 2008). Professional security measures should address
the requirements for securing corporate premises in a manner that mitigates attacks. Ensuring physical security is the most basic aspect of terrorist
protection and this involves utilizing physical controls, such as locks, fences and electronic technology, in order to "protect the premises, site, facility, building or other physical assets" belong to the
corporate employer (Halibozek, Jones and Kovacich, 2008, p. 86). Barriers, both natural and structural, provide perimeter protection. This includes gates, fences, walls, etc. (Halibozek, Jones and Kovacich, 2008). Surveillance also
