students seeking employment. Security is a huge field: there is national security, industrial security, airport security; the armed forces, police, private security; even bodyguards. This paper identifies
some of the security courses available today. Industrial Security Since "industrial security" was mentioned, lets start there, with the company called "ASIS International." ASIS International is a worldwide organization
with over 33,000 members (History of ASIS). It was founded in 1955, and is "dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by developing educational programs and
materials that address broad security interests..." (History of ASIS). These courses include the ASIS Annual Seminar and several certification programs (History of ASIS). The Annual Seminar will be held
this year from September 12-15 in Orland, Florida and will feature 135 sessions on security; exhibits; and an opportunity to meet other security professionals (ASIS International 2005). Other seminars
are scheduled throughout the country, at locations such as San Diego, Las Vegas and New Orleans (ASIS International 2005). ASIS offers several certification programs as well, and suggests
that anyone wishing to be considered a security professional consider becoming certified. They offer three certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP); Professional Certified Investigator (PCI); and Physical Security Professional
(PSP) (Why get certified?) ASIS requires prior experience and/or education before it will even allow applicants to take the certification examinations. For a Certified Protection Professional, ASIS
says the applicant must have nine years security experience, three of which must be in a supervisory capacity; or must hold a Bachelors Degree or higher and have seven years
