OHare International Airport," 2006). Approximately 190,000 people go through the airport each day ("About OHare International Airport," 2006). By most accounts, this is a successful, modern airport. As do all
airports, O Hare does pay attention to security concerns. After 9/11 much attention has been paid to airport security. Although security is a concern in various areas such as for
railroads, bridges and tourist attractions, it seems that the vulnerability of the airports had been demonstrated on that horrific day. Since that time, people have been complaining that if the
U.S. were vigilant about such things much in the way Israel acts, the terrorist attacks on September 11th might not have occurred. For example, it seems that the cockpit doors
are not secure as they are on El Al, and security measures at airports are rather lax. Of course, when the government did get tough, and people reported their discomfort
when traveling with Middle Eastern men, for example, there were charges of racism. Since that time, racial profiling has also been a concern. It seems that as far as
security is concerned at the nations airports, there is a sense that people want to be safe, but they do not want to give up privacy or sacrifice convenience. This
is particularly true of business travelers who feel they cannot afford to waste a lot of time, even though additional screenings could improve safety. Also, 9/11 seems to be an
aberration. While the U.S. has never been attacked prior to that day on such a scale, it has not been attacked since either. Still, security continues to be a relevant
