several questions presented by the student regarding Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act The first
question addresses who is actually protected under this particular act or law. According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (2006) it protects individuals who qualify as having
a disability. "Under this law, individuals with disabilities are defined as persons with a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities" (U.S. Department of
Health & Human Services, 2006). It essentially applies to organizations or companies that are funded by the government. Individuals who possess a history of a physical or mental disability that
limits their activities are also included (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2006). Interestingly enough this involves people who are paralyzed and people who have drug addictions. It could
involve mental illnesses and people who have cancer (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2006). The second question involves whether or
not the disabled people have more than this law to protect them. The answer to that question is clearly yes. The act being discussed applies to the federal government and
institutions that are funded by the federal government. There are many other laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act which essentially ensures that people with physical disabilities have equal access
to buildings and parking, access that takes their disabilities into account. In relationship to institutions of education there are likely various individual laws that apply to one institution or another,
