North people were generally concerned with their own level of advancement as there were "predictions that electricity and machinery would be transforming life and relieving mankind of drudgery," a reality
not possessed in the south (Antebellum and Civil War in the United States: Ante-Bellum, 2006). In addition, in the north there was not really a sense that they should stop
the south from having slaves, no matter how much they disliked the institution (Antebellum and Civil War in the United States: Ante-Bellum, 2006). But, as tensions grew the north
began to see how and why they needed to keep the south from seceding, for various reasons, personal and political. The following paper presents a hypothetical letter written about the
concerns of secession as written by a northerner. Secession: An Article It can be assumed that no southerner will be reading
this particular article, although there may be a few who realize the importance and dire necessity of addressing the issue of secession. As such this is written to those northerners
who may have some influence, or who are still considering whether any involvement from the north is important in relationship to the plans for secession from the south.
