people. In the face of such incidents it becomes quite clear that we do not know enough about how, when, and where such quakes can hit and the damage they
can do. The following paper examines what seaquakes are and what kind of damage they can inflict. Seaquakes "Most earthquakes are caused by movements of the tectonic (tiktoo
= generate) plates. These plates form the earths crust" and most of the time these plates move all the time and we never know it (Seismology, 2005). Seaquakes are essentially
the very same thing, except they involve earth plates that exist under the ocean rather than under the land upon which we stand and live. With a seaquake the plates
may come together and actually rise out above the sea. Such events can create new land, such as is the case with Iceland and Hawaii. And, at other times the
earth beneath the sea can dive even deeper (Seismology, 2005). In terms of these plates they are generally right next to one another and some even stick together. But
there are some times when one plate or another will move, times when the plates will actively collide with one another, and then times when the plates constantly push against
each other until one moves up and the other down and then one slips under another and creates a quake. There are several such plate tensions around the world that
seismologists are aware of. For example, to name just two, there is one off the coast of Asia and one off the west coast of Canada. The one off the
coast of Asia recently shifted in their tension and created a seaquake, and the one off the coast of Canada is being studied very closely following Asias experiences. In
