Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 10 page study that looks at the efficacy of Crichton's use of science. It is argued that, generally, his scientific principles are accurate, and delineates between those that are applicable and those that are not. The paper provides a report on the current discussion on cloning, DNA and Chaos Theory from both a scientific viewpoint and from the viewpoints represented by Henry Wu (corporate), Ian Malcolm (chaos theory), and Alan Grant (embodiment of social protector). Bibliography lists 8 sources.

critics alike, popular fiction about science is much more than mere amusement." (Goldbort 5). While all of Michael Crichtons Jurassic Park facts may seem simple to physicists, the
truth remains that science, or rather corporate science, has succeeded in performing one of the cloning techniques mentioned in the book and, as Crichton says, "genetic research continues, at a
more furious pace than ever," and in a scientific manner similar to Henry Wus methods. (Crichton xii). As Ian Malcolm says, "Everybody knows its coming, but not so soon."
Malcolm (Crichton 119). But the day is here, and there is a proliferation of research into the areas of cloning and DNA research. The industries funding
this research have come under a lot of fire, and governments have stepped into the foray, seeking on one level at least, to control the proliferation private industry devoted to
these sciences. However, the fact remains that, as Ralph Waldo Emerson says, no one has ever been able to stop science, or more particularly, to stop the mind from
thinking, or been able to stop some from putting the results of scientific thought, invention, into action. Scientific Content Crichtons book warns us against the "unsupervised" proliferation of two
new sciences: cloning and DNA sequencing. These sciences are any older than the chaos theory he uses to refute their viability. However, they are new in the
publics mind, so he brings the highlights of these sciences to our attention. Cloning. In Jurassic Park, Hammond has a stunted elephant that he keeps in a cage. This
elephant was reproduced, or cloned, from an embryo raised in an artificial womb with hormonal modifications. (Crichton 83). Cloning in both the plant and animal kingdoms has
