Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 22 page paper examines the Koran, or Qur'an and the science that is presented in the text. The paper argues that this religious text presents a large amount of scientific fact before the knowledge existed to prove the claims. Much of the fact could not be understood for many centuries until science caught up with the writing. This paper considers aspects of embryology and human development as well as astrology, cosmology and physics, including the creation and big bang theory, as well as the existence of black holes. The discussion includes consideration of the translation and context of the text as well as the way that it may, or may not be seen accurate with today's scientific knowledge. The bibliography cites 10 sources.

the understanding of the world in which he lives. Science has been growing rapidly, with new discoveries building on old. Many of the older beliefs have been disproved and show
to be based in superstition and misunderstanding, other beliefs have been found to be accurate. One document that warrants examination is the
Koran (or Quran). The Koran is unlike many other religious texts, over a third of the text talks about scientific matters it is also the only religious text that is
claimed to have been written in the first person (Sardar, 2004). For Muslims this means that this is a text that Islam interprets as having no errors or contradictions due
to the origin of the words being with the creator. This is a controversial claim, with many critics arguing that with sufficient
guesses some would subsequently prove to be correct, simply due to statistical chance. Other critics may argue that the language used is sufficiently vague to cast doubt over the scientific
meaning of the relevant verses. There can be little doubt that at the time the Koran was written scientific knowledge was a
long way behind the scientific knowledge presented in toe text, regardless of whether t was or was not correct. The knowledge was also unable to be gained from other civilisations,
such as the ancient Greeks, as it is argued the Koran is more accurate than even the theories and scientific knowledge of this older great civilisation associated with learning (Asadi,
