Though teachers provide the foundational structure for literacy learning, literacy coaching, which focuses on reading and writing best practices, are essential to meeting the needs of bilingual learners. The community focus of the school is directly linked to the goal of meeting the needs of a diverse learner population through methods to enhance instruction and parental participation. Coaches in reading and math also enhance parental participation by offering Parent Workshops during the school year, which relate directly to math, literacy, and the overall curriculum. These programs help parents understand the instructional methods and give them the information they need to support their learners at home.
