only once compared with the proportion of those who engage in more than one. This is not to say that campus violence is still not a significant problem within
the countrys school system; however, it is encouraging to note studies are reflecting somewhat of a decline. The problem is clearly formulated with regard to both the Kingery (1998)
and De Wolfe et al (1995) articles, as well as having a theoretical rationale. It is important for the student to realize the fact that the review of literature,
which is precise and significantly to the point, plainly defines and is directly related to the problem. The fairly recent phenomenon of school-aged
kids killing their classmates and teachers for nothing more than the thrill of the act has parents and administrators up in arms. Out from all the bloodshed and terror
of such despicable crimes comes the most obvious of questions: Why are kids killing each other? One of the most logical deductions is that of the newfangled child rearing
practices that have developed within the past two decades. Latch-key kids, single- and no-parent families, emotionally absent parents, working parents -- all these situations contribute not only to the
lack of a childs moral and ethical education but also effect social work for those families who depend upon its services. It is important for the student to consider
the fact that if there is no role model -- no basis of right versus wrong -- the child has no guidance as to what is acceptable social behavior.
