a very serious reality that can do serious damage to a child, long into their adult years. Bullying is not acceptable and should not be acceptable in society. While a
small amount of bullying may be acceptable as children learn to find themselves, truly pressured bullying is not good. The following paper examines school age bullying, and then examines what
can be done about bullying. School Age Bullying As mentioned, many believe that bullying is just a part of life and of growing up. Interestingly enough, this may
have been the case in years gone by but modern conditions are different, as is the level of bullying and aggression in schools. As one author notes, "Once seen as
the exclusive purview of the criminal and juvenile justice systems, aggression is now recognized as a public health problem...There is no single problem that is more prevalent and perhaps more
vexing to adolescents, parents, and school officials" (Pickett et al., 2009; 160). In essence, it has become a problem and while many people like to perhaps point out that the
fault lies with violence in film, television, and video games, the point is that bullying has become a very serious concern in the United States, and many other nations as
well. "Every day thousands of teens wake up afraid to go to school. Bullying is a problem that affects millions of students, and it has everyone worried, not just
the kids on its receiving end. Yet because parents, teachers, and other adults dont always see it, they may not understand how extreme bullying can get" (Teens Health, 2009).
