story of a boy and his grandfather and other people who come into their lives. The foundation of the story is the idea of the "rock" which is Christ. The
following paper provides a summary and discussion of the story by Mrs. Walton. At the Sea by Mrs. Walton The beginning
of the story is about Alick and how he was born. He speaks of the island, the lighthouse, and talks about the storm that came the night he was born.
It is an exciting and interesting introduction to the story and sets the stage for understanding about their lives on the island. They are essentially confined to the island because
it is an island. They go to town very little and this shows the reader just what an interesting place it would be to live. Alick states, "I was born
on a strange day, and I was born into a strange home" (2). In this story there is eventually a big storm that causes a ship to wreck. The
people of the island try to help but the ship is destroyed and the only person who survives is a little girl. Alick and his grandfather take the little girl
in and make her a part of their family. They are a bit afraid that someone will come and claim her as their relative. They really love her and enjoy
having her as a part of their family and do not want to lose her. But, in the end they find out that she cannot belong to them forever, although
they are lucky enough to know they will always be a part of her life. It is a very good story about family because these people take in this girl
