a growing anti-Americanism worldwide, but many felt that the only real issue of anti-Americanism from coming from the Muslin world. In his paper entitled "The Clash of Civilizations", Huntington hypothesizes
that differences between civilizations are both real and important in determining the nature and onset of conflict. If you believe that Huntingtons
hypothesis is valid, then you would believe that the religious difference between the Muslim world and the west is the primary reason for the current war in Iraq, the issues
in Afghanistan and world wide terrorism. Although Huntingtons hypothesis may shed some light on the current state of world affairs, its validity can be argued. Conflicts can be based
on cultural differences, but there is more to the causation than just variations in language, religion, human rights and other ethnic issues. Conflicts are the result of varying factors such
as geographic expansion, political ambition, economic reasoning and fear of domination. DISCUSSION OF HUNTINGTONS HYPOTHESIS Samuel P. Huntingtons hypothesis states that conflict between
nations in the future will be the product of cultural clashes.1 In the future the conflict between nations will not be as a result of economic differences or differences
in ideology, but will be conflict arising between civilizations due to cultural differences.2 A civilization is a group of individuals who
share common ideals and generally a common historical background. Villages, regions, ethnic groups, and religious groups all have specific ideals and other commonalities which form them into a cultural
