from the private sector to public school teaching is based on a number of factors, the most important of which is the joy I feel when working with children. Watching
a childs eyes light up when they realize they get it brings a feeling that cannot be replicated in any other setting. Our schools need teachers who are mature,
who are life-long learners, who believe completely in the value of public education and who are determined to reach each and every child in the classroom. I have these qualities.
I have maturity of age and spirit in that I have spent the last ten years working in the private sector. During these years, I have continued to gain more
knowledge, not just in my own field of work but in other fields. For example, I have gained a strong background in learning styles. My reading and training in the
area of learning styles has opened an important window of insight and I have used that insight in my own teaching experiences. Learning styles is one of the most
exciting and fascinating aspects of human learning theory to study because there are so many different approaches, ranging from the three learning styles theory (visual, aural, kinesthetic/tactile) to the multiple
intelligence theory. It is important for teachers to understand these styles in order to meet the needs of students in their classroom. I have had the opportunity to put my
knowledge of learning styles into practice during my student teaching experiences. I find there is still much to learn in this arena but my training and experience has given me
