Essay / Research Paper Abstract
3 pages in length. The twenty-first century global society does not have enough to focus upon while in the midst of politically upheaval besides something that by all rights should concern no one other than the two people involved. The ever-present debate over same-sex marriage illustrates how contemporary social perspectives are not as progressive as many claim they are, but rather reflect a level of judgment and intolerance akin to witch hunts and slavery. To presume same-sex marriage indicates anything other than the desire of two people to legally demonstrate their love is to redefine love upon the myopic basis of what does or does not exist between one's legs, reflecting a perverse - if not wholly erroneous - connection to constitutional rights that simply cannot be validated. citizens" (Denike, 2007, p. 71). Clearly, the bonds of homosexual love go just as deep as heterosexual bonds; in fact, gay and
lesbian couples are no different from any other as far as their devotion and commitment to the vows of marriage. It does not take both male and female genitalia
to create a loving, devoted relationship; rather, all it requires is the commitment from two people - gender notwithstanding - who have each others best interests at heart. From
that point forward, it does not matter if the couple is comprised of two men or two women. Critics contend that gone are
the days of traditional values, of moral standards a person can be proud to call his own. In todays ever-liberal society, homosexual relationships have been more and more a
